8 Months Old Today!

Breakfast - Blueberry and apple cereal

Lunch - A chip and tiny piece of doughnut...some of which got very surreptitiously thrown 'overboard'

Snack - Leaves followed by Mr Chris' watch and shoes

Supper - Muesli

We've had a really excellent day out, Edward had some new tasty things to celebrate his 8 months and got to flirt with a pretty waitress and my friend Claire who we randomly bumped into in Reading. He did really well all day and only got grumpy when we curbed his leaf and shoe eating, I was a very proud mummy.

As I have said on my blog this is the first time I've gone on a day trip out of London to see a friend with Edward, it has given me a lot of confidence and hope that I will now be less nervous about venturing afar to see my country-wide chums and introduce them to my beautiful son....you never know one day it may even stop feeling weird calling him my son!

Again an unofficial weigh-in but I feel as it is his 8 month birthday I should make an effort...my porky boy now comes in at whopping 8.9 kg or 19.6lbs ...no wonder it's getting tough to lift him!

Porkyworkies!

Breakfast - none

Lunch - Slice of pork, a small piece of apple and a sugar snap pea BLW style

Supper - Pork in home-made apple sauce with carrot

Again I went easy with the food today as Edward is still not 100% himself. I took his nappy off last thing at night to find he'd done a poo, I don't think it had been there long but was so nasty it had made his inner thigh really sore, to the point the skin looked ready to blister, poor boy! I had only been thinking yesterday how we'd got through his first tooth without the dodgy poos often associated with teething, obviously 'thought' too soon.

Edward's lunch was a very laid back messy affair we just handed him the bits of food where he was on his mat and let him play with them. The pork mostly just got shredded and spread about, but the sugar snap pea got seriously munched!

Edward went to the song and dance session at the library today, it was a special one today (quite by chance) and there was a flute player and a ballerina from The National Ballet leading the session. His little eyes were so wide watching all the other children, I think he quite enjoyed it especially the clapping :o)

We got some books out and he is now officially taking part in a reading challenge, he has a special card and a chart that he gets stickers on and everything!! He just has to read, or be read, six books by the end of the summer then we get entered into a prize draw for cinema tickets which at £10 a shot in central London is actually quite a good prize. We got a Baby Einstein book, a feely book called 'That's not my rabbit' recommended by Grandmummy, and finally the essential classic 'The Hungry Caterpillar'.

Edward is getting VERY close to crawling, I was watching him earlier and he keeps managing to get up on all fours then as he flops down he wiggles backwards. I think there is a good chance he will be crawling by the end of the month.

All in all he's had a good day, he's been really chirpy and giggly which has been just lovely, he also has a new favourite toy...namely the metal carpet edger between the hall and lounge, he likes scrunching his fingers across it and banging it as it makes a rather superb noise!

Nectarines and Butterflies

Breakfast - Nectarine puree and Porridge

Lunch - Mince and mash, yoghurt, a cracker and some crackerbread with apricot jam

Supper - Apple puree and Porridge

We had a lovely day today as we went to the butterfly house exhibition at the Natural History museum with Shaune and Xander, we then went for cake though I was a mean mummy and didn't give Edward any!
Luke fed Edward his supper as I was fast asleep after our exciting trip out!

Edward also did his best to eat some of his rolly-balls which I had put in a dish for him to stop them getting away, though he still managed to knock them out the dish and they went rolling off across the floor much to his intense consternation.

Picnic!!

Mmmm Tasty Playmat!!

Breakfast - Peach and Banana baby cereal (guess who forgot to pack much of a variety)

Lunch - Peach and Banana baby cereal. I did offer raspberry's but I think they were too sour for him as he spat them out. Edward also had some pita bread and some chicken and some normal bread out on the lawn at the family picnic.

Supper - You guessed it Peach and Banana baby cereal .... in my defense I did actually take some of the pasta sauce and the jar from John Lewis but he was so distracted and over excited by all the people milling around I knew it was pointless to even try so stuck to things I knew he would eat.

Other things Edward sampled that I don't strictly think come under weaning include; his playmat, grass, flowers, a dragon and a tennis ball...well until we decided said tennis ball had probably already been sampled by Frank the dog and so probably wasn't ideal!!

Concentrate...Concentrate!!

Eating Pitta Bread is a serious business!
